The inquest on Cpl Peter Basil Furniss aged 25, military policeman of 8 Rockburne Road, Forest Hill and Lance Corporal James Kearney Aitcheson of Greenock, Scotland (2) also a military policeman who died as a result of a jeep crash on the Colchester road, St. Osyth was formerly opened by the deputy coroner for North East Essex Mr F E M Paxon at Clacton, Essex on Thursday last week. The accident occurred on July 19. No other vehicle was involved. Capt. K S Sindall, Royal Lincolnshire Regiment, second in command 3 Div Pro Coy gave evidence of identification. Mr Paxon adjourned the inquest for one month in order that two witnesses of the accident who were also travelling in the jeep - L/Cpl Andrew Thomas Twaddell (19) of Glasgow and Cpl Derek Arthur Johnson (2) of Walton Road, Frinton, Essex might be present. At the present moment both men are recovering from the crash in Colchester Military Hospital.
