Called up from the reserve with the 1st Life Guards in August 1914, he was later transferred and drafted to France. Whilst in this theatre of war he did consistently good work and took and active part in engagements in the Somme, Arras and Cambrai sectors. After the cessation of hostilities he proceeded to Germany where he served with the Army of Occupation. Returning home he was discharged in August 1920, and holds the 1914-1915 Star (not on medal card), and the General Service and Victory Medals. West Street, Long Buckby. |
