Constable Bennetts, who has been stationed at St Erth for nearly 7 years, retired on Tuesday after 26 tyears service to the Cornwall Constabulary. A native on Newlyn, PC Bennets joined the force in 1913, and served at Callington and Saltash. During the war he was a member of the Military Foot Police and later 16 Middlesex Regiment. Subsequently he returned to police duties in Redruth, Fowey, and Lerryn and was at Polperrow for 89 years before he transferred to St Erth. |
