Popular Tamworth Officer. Constable Thomas William Bickley, who for the past two years has been stationed in Tamworth Borough, has retired on pension after 25 years serving with the Staffordshire Constabulary. A native of Aldridge, PC Bickley joined the Staffordshire Force on October 16th 1913, and after a period of training at Stafford, was stationed at West Bromwich. In November of 1915 he joined the Military Foot Police and served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in Egypt and Palestine until 1919, finishing as a Corporal. He came back to West Bromwich and it was in January, 1925 that he was transferred to Harlaston, where he remained until 1936, when he came into the Borough of Tamworth. During his career in the Force PC Bickley had on several occasions been rewarded for his gallant conduct. One of his most vivid recollections was his association with the Edgar Ball murder case, while he was stationed at Perry Barr. He was a popular officer int he Harlaston sub-division of Tamworth, and in his twelve years' service there won the respect and esteem of every section of the community. his popularity followed him to Tamworth, and he retires with the good wishes of all his fellow officers and of the community at large. He is remaining in Tamworth district.
