First served abroad (1) France, 27/8/1914 to 20/9/1914 and 24/5/1915 to 13/12/1915 and (4) Mesopotamia, 11/12/1915 to 2/4/1919 and (3) Egypt, 9/4/1918. Formerly Sgt. 1 Manchester Regt. No. 948, 23/6/1915 to 3 Manchester Regiment. He has 2 x medal cards, 1 x A Blanchard, 1914 Star and 2 x H Blanchard, Victory and War Medals. He was Court Martialled at Cleethorpes: When on active service deserting His Majesty's Service in that he, at Cleethorpes, on the 22nd June, 1915, when under orders for embarkation to join the expeditionary force, absented himself without leave from the 3rd Manchester Regiment, from 4.45amd until 6.20pm the same date, with the intent to avoid such embarkation. A further note states that the case should be disposed of regimentally. Later transferred to the MMP date not known. 17/7/1919 shown on Prees Heath Mobilization Acquittance Roll as being awarded £2.
