Thomas Bridge. Extract from the Lancashire Evening Post 18 November 1915. BLACKBURN POLICE & THE WAR. In response to a request from the authorities Mr. C Holden, Blackburn's, Chief Constable, has permitted a further eight men to join the forces as Military Foot Police. These are PC's Richard Holden, Albert Walmsley, John Moscrop, Thomas Bridge, Thomas Edmondson, Chas Thomas Dent. The Blackburn Police have now provided 50 police officers for the forces, one from the fire station and one constable resigned his position to join the Army. Extract from the Blackburn Times 25 February 1933. POLICE RETIREMENTS. The Corporation Watch Committee, on Monday afternoon accepted the resignations of PC's T. Bridge and P Rodgett, each after 25 years service. They have retired on pensions. PC Bridge, who served in the Military Foot Police in the East during the war, has been commended on five occasions - four times for the arrest of thieves and once for an opportune discovery of a mill fire. |
