Extract from the South London Observer 2 February 1918.
The members of the Military Mounted Police have few opportunities of distinguishing themselves compared with their comrades, who are engaged more directly with the enemy and it is all the more pleasing when recognition is made of services rendered. We therefore congratulate 5499 Lance Cpl. Butler, MMP, 4th Division, on the fact that his Major General has congratulated him on his fine behaviour. Lance Cpl. Butler resides at Meeting House Lane,m Peckham, and is employed by the Camberwell Borough Council.
