| Citation: | Egypt, Libya.Citation for MID: This W.O. is recommended for the valuable service which he rendered in connection with the assemby of Special Stores required for equipping and training Brick Provost formations of the Eighth Army prior to the assault on Sicily. His expert knowledge of 'Q' work at this H.Q. was energetically devoted to the preparation of complicated indents involving a varied assortment of traffic equipment items, a lot of which had to be made locally, sometimes at short notice. These stores had to be collected and issued over widely separated areas. It was largely due to R.S.M. Sutcliffe's perseverence and energy that these vital stores were made ready and distributed promptly. His outstanding ability proved to be a particular value at a time when it was most needed.
