Ref GRO 8041 dated 14/1/19.
I am suffering from MALARIA. This I contracted in July 1916, whilst serving with the Salonica Forces. At the above date I was attached to the 29th Infantry Brigade,. 10 th (Irish) Division, and was engaged on Police Patrol work among the many villages that are situated along the banks of the River STURMA, MACEDONIA. I reported sick in July, exact date unknown, I was admitted to a Field Ambulance, then evacuated to a C.C.S., and afterwards to the Base Hospital Salonica. From there to the Tingne Hospital, MALTA.
From Malta I was evacuated to the U.K. by the Hospital Ship DOVER CASTLE, and landed at Southampton and was sent to the Mill Hill Military Hospital at LIVERPOOL, from which I was discharged on the 9/9/18.
In my opinion the Malarial Fever from which I suffered was caused by the climatic condition under which I had to work. At the time Malarial Fever was very prevalent among the British Troops and the inhabitants of the district. Signed F Booker, No. P/1063. A/S.S.M., MMP.
