Frequently under heavy shell fire, particularly on the night of the 15th September on the Fins-Equancourt road, he showed a total disregard for his personal safety. By his courage and untiring energy he set an example to his men which ensured the complete success of the traffic control in the Divisional Area. His work was of an exceptionally high standard.Although a Royal Welsh Fusilier he must have been attached to the Divisonal Traffic Control Company.
