Decoration: Act of Courage (London Gazette: 2 Army Special Order Page: No. 7 May 18, 1918)
Citation: Extract from 2 Army Special Order No.7 dated 18/5/1918. The Army Commander wishes to express his appreciation of the following acts' of courage:- At 3.15 pm on the 26th April 1918 a fire caused by hostile shelling at a Railway Station and began to spread rapidly, No. P/5039 L/Cpl Turner T, MFP (with three other MFP) at once set to work and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjoining buildings. This was done at considerable risk as the hostile shelling continued and small arms ammunition was exploding in the vicinity.A record of the above will be made in the Regimental Conduct Sheet of the NCO's concerned in accordance with Kings Regulations para 1919 (xiv).
