Citation: United Kingdom. Provost Marshal's Branch, AG (PM) War Office. Citation for BEM: S/Sgt Clapham is a regular soldier of eleven years' exemplary service. He has served as Chief Clerk to the Provost Marshal, and for AG (PM) Branch of the War Office, for the last three years. During this period the Branch has had to be completely re-organised in order to accept responsibility for MPSC as well as RMP and work has steadily increased owing to planning for mobilisation, and the increase in size of RMP, Active, TA and SR. The provision of junior clerical staff from RMP has always been extremelty difficult and resulted in many changes. Throughout the period he has shown great ability in controlling this changing staff and in training them to give good willing work. Had it not been for S/Sgt CLAPHAM'S energy, organising ability and devotion to his task which often meant long hours of voluntary extra duty, the work of the office would have been seriously impaired;Col P Godfrey Fausett Col A & G (DPM) to DDPS (PM).
