L/Cpl A Westall, a member of the Burnley Police Force, who is serving in France with the Military Foot Police was recently complemented by the Commanding Officer of GHQ Troops, for performing a gallant deed. Whilst stationed at Hesdin, a market town, sometime in May, L/Cpl Westall succeeded in stopping a runaway horse, after being dragged a considerable distance down the Rue General Tripier. The street was crowded at the time and by his plucky conduct he probably averted a severe accident. He was praised by the Commanding Officer for his courage and initiative.
