Citation: | Queens Birthday Honours. 23496142 Staff Sergeant Gordon Thow Thomas Rose. Hounslow Det. SIB, UK. RMP. 10 June 1970 to now.Citation: Following service in the Seaforth Highlanders, Staff Sergeant Rose joined the Corps of Royal Military Police and for the past ten years has been employed with the Special Investigation Branch, during which time he has built up fine record of hard and successful work in the field of criminal investigation. This recommendation concerns the last eighteen months during which time he has been in charge of the SIB Detachment at Hounslow. The workload of that particular Detachment has increased considerably since 1969 and although it has not been possible to increase the manpower. Staff Sergeant Rose has continued to deal with the added commitment, which included may cases of a serious and difficult nature. This effort has absorbed much of his off-duty time and whilst on call for twenty four hours a day, his enthusiasm has never flagged and the energy devoted to his work is reflected in the high standard of results achieved. His tact and close liaison with the civil police, other law enforcement agencies an local authorities has been a major contributory factor in the successful completion of so man investigations. In October this year, he was responsible for the investigation of a particularly complicated murder that had occurred in 1965, being personally involved with enquiries in the United Kingdom and Singapore as well as having to make arrangements for further inquiries in Hong Kong and Germany. Due to personal effort, devotion to duty and hard work, the case was brought to a satisfactory conclusion thus confirming the outstanding ability of this NCO.
