Letter in his discharge documents states: Suffering from Nervousness, headaches and gastritis, 15/10/15. During air raid London and the air raids in Hull since July 1916. I was on duty at the Lyce--- London when the place was bombed and the ceiling fell on my head, also on duty during all the raids whilst at Hull. Not admitted to hospital, but was treated by MO Hull from July 1916 till August 1917. Was struck out of Army rations and provided own food, light diet, chiefly milk, eggs and fish.
