The following NCO's and man displayed great courage and devotion to duty, remaining on their posts directing traffic during incessant shell fire until relieved, A/Cpl Lay, L/Cpl Todd and Pte Sidney. Forwarded recommendation for immediate Military Medals to these three men.22/8/17 Under the authority delegated by the F M Commander in Chief the army commander has awarded the Military Medal to P/1262 L/Cpl Lay, 20359 L/Cpl Todd J, 5215 Pte Sidney J.
