District, Bodmin reads: Sir, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you that he has received a copy of an order made by the Justices at Bodmin dated the 11th June 1886 upon Lance Corporal Edward Stone for the payment of 2/6 d a week for the maintenance of a bastard child of which he was adjudged to be the putative father, and of the costs amounting to £1.12.0 d. In accordance with the provisions of the 145th Section of the Army Act 1881, the Secretary of State desires that you will stop three pence a day from the pay of this man, commencing from the date of receipt of this letter and remit the stoppages monthly to Ruth Jago, C/O Clerk to Justices, Town Clerk's Office, Bodmin subject to the conditions specified in the order. The stoppages should be made and the money remitted in accordance with pars. 455 to 460 of the Financial Instructions issued with Clause 170, Army Circulars 1882. Signed H F Deeds.
