Lance Corporal Boulton repaired cuts in the line and kept this communication in working order only by complete disregard for his personal safety. His unflinching steadfastness during day and night patrolling enabled him to get word back to the Recovery and so clear knocked out vehicles and to request RE assistance to fill in shell holes in quick time. On 12th March he assisted in policing a column of tanks from MICHELE to MADRAS circus and although heavy shellfire came down on the route he reached his destination and succeessfully completed a dangerous Provost Operation. He faced death on numerous occasions pressing home his jeep patrol on the CAIRO circuit and forward tracks, knowing full well that the enemy shelling was accurately arranged on his portion of the Div axis.Recommended for the BEM awarded a periodical MM.
