Accommodation Non-Commissioned Officer. 1 may 1987 to 31 October 1989.Citation: Staff Sergeant Blaza is a senior non commissioned officer who has served in the Royal Military Police Training Centre for the past 4 years. He is currently on an Extended Career Regimental Engagement. he has primarily been employed in the Quartermaster's Department as the Accommodtion Non Commissioned Officer. As such he has made a sustained major and most significant contribution to the welfare and support service catering for the 300 or so single soldiers and 53 officers and other rank families who occupy accommodation in Roussillon Barracks, Chichester. In addition to his normal military duties which he has carried out with skill, compassion, considerable innovation and enthusiasm he has devoted much time and effort to off duty extra mural regimental activities. he has spent may off duty hours concerned with the administration and maintenance of the two Regiment Corps Chalets and acting as Verger to the Corps Chapel. Without thought for his own personal commitments, he has carried out the important and time consuming task of attending to the personal welfare and daily needs of the occupants of the chalets. many of these are elderly and infirm or who are recovering from a personal or family crisis. During the winter months ha has single handed carried out an annual redecoration and maintenance programme. He has carried out many minor repairs and payed regular inspection visits during the close season. He has also on a completely voluntary basis acted as the part time caretaker of the Corps Chapel. As Verger he has provided invaluable assistance to the two Churchwardens, helping them maintain and develop the chapel as the spiritual house of the Corps. On his own initiative he commissioned a heating and lighting study of the chapel which resulted in the instillation of a new, modern and most economical and effective system which has greatly enhanced the comfort for all. He is also a regular contributor to the floral displays which beautify the chapel. The unselfish commitment and inspiring example he has made in these extra mural activities are in keeping with the highest traditions of both the Royal Military Police and the Service and are deserving of recognition.Recommended by: Lt.
