Extract from the Macclesfield Times and East Cheshire Observer- Friday, 29 January 1926. HUSBAND'S APPLICATION. Lawrence Meredith Ault, labourer, 13 Water Street, applied at the Macclesfield Borough Police Court on Friday to vary a maintenance order in respect of his wife, Alice Ault, 8, Calamine Street. Mr H G Barclay appeared in support of the application. Applicant stated that on July 13th 1924, and order was made against him to pay £1.5s. weekly towards the maintenance of his wife and two children. At the time his wages were £2 per week clear, but now he only received £2-4s per week, out of which he had to pay 2/- railway fare and 1/5 insurance.. He was willing to pay £1 per week towards the maintenance of the children. Answering the magistrate's clerk (MR H Harrison), applicant said he was in arrears with his payments to the extent of over £3. The chairman (Mr W H L Cameron) said an order for the payment of £1 per week, would be granted, but suspended for a week, on condition that during that time applicant would pay off the arrears. |
