Citation: | New Year Honours. 438659 Major Robert John Wyatt, OC 163 Pro Coy RMP (V). 1 March 1973 to 15 June 1981.Citation: Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Wyatt assumed command of 163 Provost Company RMP (V), a sponsored company recruited entirely from the Automobile association, in 1973. Under his inspired leadership the unit flourished, was always fully recruited and earned an outstanding reputation. During his period of command after one major exercise the Commander of the LSG UKMF commented that the company's performance was the best he had ever seen of a military Police company. In 1974, when they spent their annual camp in support of RMP in South East District, the GOC remarked that that they were a shining example to the regular army in every respect. More recently the Commander 8th Field Force stated that the Company's performance during Exercise CRUSADER was simply outstanding. For a sponsored unit to gain such praise is a truly remarkable achievement. Their tremendous contribution to the operational efficiency of the Army and their splendid example is testimony to the dedication and leadership of Lieutenant colonel Wyatt. he inspired a sense of purpose and professionalism into this company which is reflected in their soaring morale and outstanding efficiency. Some measure of his achievement in this respect may be judged from the unprecedented action of the Governing Committee who, at a luncheon in his honour, made a presentation to him on his relinquishment of command. Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Wyatt's performance as commanding officer of a company of part time soldiers has been a shining example of devotion, outstanding and unselfish service, superb efficiency and absolute professionalism. Such conduct is far beyond the normal calll of duty and should be recognised by an award.Recommended by: APM, South. Lt/Gen. Aldershot. Gen. C in C UKLF |
