| Citation: | Iraq, Tunisia. Citation for MID: Major SOFTLY has been APM of this Division since 3 Oct 41 and at all times has shown the greatest devotion to duty. On the long move by road from Iraq to Northern Tunisia, during the closing weeks of the campaign and on the return journey to Tripoli, his work was particularly onerous and exacting; always cheerful and quite tireless, his energy, tact and efficiency very largely contributed to the smooth and successful way in which all this movement was carried out.Maj-Gen Comd 56 (London) Div.
