Notes: | Pro Officer. 3rd Dragoon Guards RAC. DPM Traffic 8th Army. APM. 7 Armd Div 44. Extract from The Desert Rats, History of the 7th Armoured Division, 1938-1945. by Major General G L Verney, DSO. Page 249, The Low Countries. A very heavy strain fell upon the Military Police, and this seems a suitable opportunity to make mention of this Corps whose services to the Army were so indispensable. In the Division they were controlled by Major E P Wedlake-Lewis the APM, and were comprised about a hundred men under Captain E Clarke's command. It was their duty to mark the Divisional and Brigade Centre Lines with the Divisional sign on a metal plate bearing an arrow and the number of the formation or unit beneath. The Police were always to be found right up amongst the forward troops, controlling traffic and ready to put any wanderer on the right road.
