Citation for MBE: Captain Barker, as Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal, Rear HQ, Eight Army, in Italy from 1 May 44 to 31 Aug 44, and previously throughout the Desert and Sicilian campaigns, has served with distinction. Whilst largely responsible for the administrative work of the Service he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to all aspects of Police Work. His duties have always been of a highly confidential nature involving all wings of the Corps, throughout he has fully justified the confidence placed in him. By his untiring efforts for the Corps of Military Police during the past twenty-one months he has contributed very largely to the success the Provost Service has achieved in the maintenance of discipline, the prevention of crime, and the control of traffic in Eighth Army.Brigadier DA & QMG Eighth Army.
