Citation: North West Europe. Citation for MC: T/Major Chittock has been Assistant Provost Marshal of the 15th Scottish Division throughout the campaign. His work as APM has always been of the highest order. In battle he has displayed great energy and personal courage, visiting his police in dangerous and exposed places, often under enemy shell fire. During the advance to HORST on 22nd and 23rd November, 1944, when the Division depended on only one muddy track for both its tactical and maintenance traffic he was forward at the earliest moment supervising the traffic arrangements, and over the two days he spent 14 hours under particularly difficult circumstances and was on three occasions under shell fire. Again on 3rd December, 1944, during the attack on HLERICK, Major CHITTOCK spent 6 hours personally supervising the traffic arrangements in the Forming Up Place and at the entrances to the lanes through the minefield, here again he was subject to enemy shelling. His example and personal courage under fire have been a fine influence on the Military Police and other troops.Maj Gen C M Barber Comd 15 (S) Div. Lt Gen GOC 8 Corps. Lieut Gen Commander Second Army.
