Lt Col Geoffrey Charles White, OBE 36 year old assistant Chef Constable of Northumberland since January 1947 was appointed Chief Constable of Warwickshire by Warwickshire Standing Joint Committee on Tuesday
Lt Col White who resides at Olympia Gardens, Morpeth, is married and has tow children. He was a product of the Metropolitan Police College and served 14 years with the Metropolitan force, mainly in the East End of London. During the war he was commissioned in the Royal Tank Corps and was with the 78th Division at the Sicilian and Italian Campaigns. He later served in the Corps of Military Police in Italy. Immediately prior to his appointment to Northumberland, Lt Col White was deputy commandant of Police training School at Easingwold, especially concerned with new entrants to constabularies in the North East.
He is keenly interested in youth work an has been assistant district Scout Commissioner in the Morpeth Area.

Citation: Italy. Citation for OBE: Has acted as D.P.M. at HQ Rome Allied Area Command since its inception. He has had direct control of British, U.S. and Allied Police units and has been responsible for the discipline of the first Capital City in Europe to be liberated, a City through which vast numbers of Allied troops have passed on leave.
