Citation: | North West Europe. Citation for the award of the OBE: This officer is DPM, 21 Army Group. BLA. His work has been beyond praise in all phases of the operation from 'D' Day to the end. He has shown terrific drive and unusual organising powers. Through operational necessity he has been continually entrusted with powers and decisions above thos of a G1 level; and invariably with admirable results. In particular he has shown exceptional initiative and improvisation in securing many new types of equimpent urgently required by CMP units at short notice in battle. That these and countless other vital rush-demands from lower formations were invariably met was mainly due to Lt Col STANLEY'S personal efforts and his ability to deal on equal terms with Staff Officers senior to himself. He has throughout, inspired all ranks with his tireless energy and exemplary devotion to duty. The success of the CMP in this campaign owes much to Lt Col STANLEY'S outstanding ability and example.Col Basset F G Wilson PM 21 A/Gp. Mam-Gen DAG 21 Army Gp. National Archive WO 373/85 |
