| Citation: | Cpl. Dennis was one of the Florence LIAP 122 Party which was involved in a train accident at Orvieto on the night of 13-14/6/45. The Accident completely wrecked the front coaches of the passenger train and me were pinned under the wreckage which owing to diesel oil from the petrol train was liable at any moment to catch fore or be blown up in an explosion. This NCO though considerably shaken by the accident immediately set to work on rescue operations, helping to extract casualties. His efforts were unfailing and he never gave up until he was certain that there were no personnel left alive in the wreckage. It was largely due to his efforts that the fatal casualties were not higher. |
