Citation: | Italy/NW Europe. Citation for MBE: Major ALEXANDER has been APM 5 British Infantry Division since March 1944. Joining the Division in the ANZIO Beachhead he soon showed that he had exceptional qualities and powers of organisation. These powers he has used to the full throughout his service with the Division in ITALY and GERMANY and his efforts have time and again deserved the highest praise. In the moves which the Division undertook from Italy, both in and out of action and until the final stages of the war in North West Europe when it crossed the River ELBE, Major ALEXANDER's superb traffic arrangements were invaluable. By his personal endeavour and unflagging energy he was an example to the whole Divisional Provost Company and to all others with whom he came in contact. In the maintenance of discipline as APM, Major ALEXANDER has been a tower of strength, and his traffic organisation has been a very material factor in the Division's success during its operations.Maj-Gen R A Hull Comd 5 Brit Inf Div.
