The Army Commander wishes to express his appreciation of the gallant conduct of No P/5073 L/Cpl J Sykes, MFP, under the following circumstances, On June 14 about 2pm a pair of horses drawing a GS wagon bolted. L/Cpl Sykes sprang at their heads and succeeded in stopping them after being dragged some 20 yards along the road. This prompt and plucky action no doubt prevented a serious accident, as there was a large amount of traffic in the vicinity.
