According to letter 10/9/1918 is prisoner at Gustrow (south of Rostock, Germany).
Between the 21st and 23rd April 1918 the 9th (Scottish) Division took part in the Battle for St. Quentin.

Citation: Acts of Courage Extracted From The Corps Order Books.P/8495 LANCE CORPORAL W I BARRMILITARY MOUNTED POLICE2 ARMYThe Army Commander Second Army wishes to express his appreciation of the following act of No P/8495 L/Cpl Barr W I MMP.On August 4 1917 at about 9.30am he was on duty in Hazebrouck when a pair of runaway horses joined to a GS wagon came galloping towards him along the Rue de la Claf. By catching at the heads and holding on till they stopped L/Cpl Barr averted a collision with other traffic in the street.
