Citation: War Diary WO 176/302, Iceland Force Pro Coy. 11/7/40 AF Routine orders No. 207 - 213. The following Act of Gallantry has been brought to the notice of the GOC by the Chief Constable of Reykjavic. On the night of Sunday 7 July a drunken woman threw herself into the sea from Taxafordi. No. 5048105 L/Cpl G Staton, 49 Div Pro Coy who was in the neighbourhood, regardless of personal safety threw himself after her whilst fully dressed and was the means of saving the woman from drowning. The GOC directs this act of gallantry be entered upon this NCO's documents. This was done.
