Citation: | Citation: WS/Capt. T/Major, L/Lt Col Borland, Thomas Henry.Middle East May to Oct 1942.This officer joined the CMP when there was no traffic organisation in the Middle East. He at once showed marked ability in Traffic organisation in all its ramifications. He has built up a Traffic organisation of highly skilled personnel which now numbers some 25 Officers and 700 other ranks, and 150 Greek checkers. He has established Check Posts throughout the Middle East whereby the misuse of Government Vehicles has been greatly reduced: Information Posts where road patrols report, and information is passed on at once to Movements as to road blocks, broken bridges, washouts. The volume of WD traffic by the three main routes into Cairo alone is some 85,000 vehicles a month. It is due to his organisation, and ability that this volume of traffic, and also that in the Western Desert, and other main Routes has functioned smoothly often under very adverse conditionsI cannot speak to highly of this officers's work, and untiring devotion to duty which richly merits reward.Recommended by Col F C Bryant PM Middle East Forces, Lt Gen W G Lindrell. |
