Citation: New Year Honour. W0462720 Cpl. Elizabeth Jane Terry, WRAC Provost. For work in the Police Office of 113 Pro Coy. 1 Aug 83 - 1 Apr 84.Citation: Since August 1981 Corporal Terry has been employed in the Police Officer of 113 Provost Company. Since August 1983 she has run this office in its entirety and has assumed the awesome responsibility associated with this demanding task. The job is normally given to a senior Sergeant or Staff Sergeant with many years of police experience. Because of her familiarity with the office Corporal Terry was asked to step in for a short period and to fill the post. She immediately took command of the situation and began to improve on the coordination of the Company's police effort by developing the system of controlling and processing case files. her painstaking attention to detail immediately improved the quality and production of police reports. She has used her initiative and creative flair to initiate a system of strict control over sensitive documents and has saved much time and effort of hard pressed investigators. The improvements in standards have included the maintenance of statistics and the organisation of archives to achieve quick retrieval of information. All are a direct result of Corporal Terry's hard work and diligence. She has uncomplainingly devoted many hours of her precious spare time, both at night and during weekends to attain this remarkable achievement. In addition, as a policewoman, Corporal Terry has volunteered to carry out interviews in connection with delicate cases involving children where tact and sensitivity have been required. These investigations have often been distasteful yet she readily accepts these distressing demands when she could well remain at her desk. Corporal Terry is a Queen's Guide and despite the excessive demands of her extremely responsible job and her marriage to a policeman she still finds time to assist in the running of a Girl Guide Troop. This time consuming extra mural activity is yet another fine example of her dedication to others. Corporal Terry is also an accomplished soldier who is an inspiration to her juniors, peers and indeed her seniors. She has earned their support and respect. She deserves more. Her unfailing devotion to duty, her achievements and her special dedication to her part in society should be rewarded by public recognition.Recommended by:Maj. OC 113 Pro Coy.
