Citation: CMP(I). Italy.6457492 WS/Cpl. Charles Clements. 8 Indian Division Pro Coy.Citation: This NCO has been in charge of a sub section of 8 Indian Div. Pro. Coy since May 1944. During this period he has shown a high standard of leadership and devotion to duty. On the R. GARI from May 11th to May 15th, Cpl Clements' men were on duty at track junctions or on bridges which the enemy regularly shelled. He was always visiting them and encouraging them with his cheerfulness and cool disregard of danger. Later, during the pursuit near PERUGIA, Cpl Clements had to take charge of the whole section owing to the illness of his section Sjt. He again showed great fortitude and kept his men in good heart whilst manning points of considerable danger on the road to RIPA. Cpl Clements cheerfulness and read assumption of responsibility have been a very great asset to the Company, and a fine example to the men serving under him.Recommended by: Maj. H M Knee, APM 8 Ind.
