Inscription on Private Gravestone: In loving memory of Verdun, dearly beloved husband of Betty Vowles, who gave his life for his country 15 Oct. 1943. Until we meet again. Also his wife Betty Vowles died 7 Oct 76, aged 62 years. Re-United. He is also named on the Brookwood Memorial to the missing which is strange as 158 Pro Coy was a static company in the UK. 15/10/1943 died as a result of an accident.
