Extract from the Lancaster Guardian - Friday 12 January 1945. FATHER OF THREE CHILDREN KILLED.
News has recently been received by Mrs. A Wood, 20, Lymm Avenue, Lancaster, of the death in action on November 27 last in N W Europe of her husband L/cpl James Wood, CMP, TC.
A native of Greengates , Bradford, L/cpl Wood removed to Lancaster 14 years ago. Prior to being called up in April 1942, he had worked at Messrs. Lansil, Caton Road, for eight years, being a popular colleague in the dyeing and finishing department. L/cpl Wood is survived by his wife, Mrs Agnes Wood and three young children, Denis, Kenneth and Ellen.
