Mr John Smith of 135 Severn Road, Cardiff, has received official intimation that his second son Pte F C Smith, of the Military Foot Police succumbed to pneumonia in France on the 18th inst. Pte Smith, who was 34 years of age, was prior to proceeding to France, four years ago a policeman engaged at Cardiff Docks. He leaves a widow and two children, who formerly resided in Eldon Road, Cardiff. Mr Smith has three other sons with the forces, all of whom have suffered injuries in the war. They are Pte Alfred Smith, of the 2nd Welsh, L/Cpl Ernest Smith of the 1 Gloucester's, L/Cpl Ernest Smith, of the 1 RGR who has been gassed twice, During the course of the war Mr Smith senior has also lost a wife, father, and sister-in-law within the course of a fortnight.
