We drew in the strops, static lines and bags, undid the floor strong point and removed all strops, 10 were joined together and a kit-bag secured to the overhead stray point and the kit-bag lowered away, this did not reach the man, a further three strops were added and the end secured to the floor strong-point and again lowered away. This time L/cpl Phillips managed to grab the strops and sit astride the kit bag whilst he was pulled up to the aircraft. It took 20 minutes to get him to the bottom edge of the door., Another two strops were secured to the aft strong-point, passed over the overhead strop cable and secured to the man's shoulder harness; he was brought partially into the aircraft, the remainder of the way he was brought in by hand.
