Notes:MMP. 24/4/1897 he enlisted as a Dvr in the Royal Field Artillery, No. 19809, age 20 years, born Bermondsey, London, occupation Painters Labourer, address: Father 61 East Road, Bermondsey, London. 15/7/1897 he sustained an injury to his hand at Riding School, Shorncliffe,27/5/1903 transferred to MMP, 23/4/1909 to discharge. Served Home 24/4/1897 to 1/2/1898, India 2/2/1899 to 27/11/1902, ? 28/11/1902 to 11/12/1905, ? 12/12/1905 to 11/3/1907, Home 12/3/1907 to 23/4/1909 to discharge. A letter in his Army Record from the APM Tidworth to PM Aldershot states: This NCO has bee here over two months and on only two occasions has he reported anything when on duty. He suffers from deafness and is a great drawback in carrying out Police Duties efficiently. 3/3/1909 Reply from PM Aldershot. With reference to attached, will you please inform the NCO that his re engagement cannot be sanctioned due to his deafness, which prevails him for the duties of a Military Policeman. He could return to his former Regiment. Cpl Sharp did not wish to return to his former regiment and was discharged time expired.
