Extract from the Glamorgan Gazette - Friday, June 9, 193cl The wedding took place on Saturday at Llanharan Church of Mr. James Powell, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R Powell, of Duffryn Terrace, and Miss Dorothy M Ashton, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Ashton, of Duffryn Terrace, Llanharan. The bride was tastefully attired in ivory spun silk, with wreath and veil,, and carried a bouquet of white carnations. Her father gave her away. Miss Peggy Ashton (sister of the bride) attended as bridesmaid, and was dressed in lemon net, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of white carnations. Mr. Tom Kelly (uncle of the bride) acted as best man. The Rev. J. Evans-Jones, B.A,. performed the ceremony. A reception was held at the home of the bride, where a large number of guests were present. The presents were numerous and costly. The honeymoon is being spent at Pontypool. |
