Citation: Wo 373/4 Immediate Award. 35 Brick, Bde. 46 Div, 10 Corps, L/Bdr. 1436454, Richard Chase Spicer. As clerk to the AMLO L/Bdr Spicer landed with the assault force on 9th Sept on Uncle Red Beach, Throughout the first 24 hrs. he carried out his duties of supervising the landing of personnel and vehicles in spite of constant fire from 88mm guns, mortars and occasional attacks from low flying aircraft. He showed a splendid example to all ranks on the beach and contributed greatly to the successful disembarkation. His conduct throughout has been most praiseworthy.
