FORMER CARNIVAL QUEEN'S SOLDIER HUSBAND. at the Huddersfield Register Office this morning the wedding took place of Corporal Edward MacDonald and Miss Daphne Broomhall who at the Borough Court on Tuesday were granted permission to marry. Miss Broomhall who is twenty years of age was Miss Huddersfield in the carnival year. At the court to which she applied for consent to marry she told how she and Corporal MacDonald had made repeated but unsuccessful efforts to secure the consent of her parents Mr and Mrs E W Broomhall of 5 Spaines Road, Fartown. The ceremony was preformed by the Superintendent Registrar ( Mr H A Willis). A small crowd of people gathered outside the Register Office to watch the young couple leave after the ceremony. After hearing the evidence when Miss Broomhall made her application at the Court, the Stipendiary Magistrate (Mr Waldo R Briggs) remarked that the pair seemed to be very fond of each other and added that the Bench were unable to see any objection to Corporal MacDonald. The bridegroom, whose home was stated to be at 6, Wormald's Yard, King Street is serving with the 2/7th Bn. Duke of Wellingtons Regiment.
