MR J BASTOCK AND MISS M CLARKE. A well known Burton footballer and cricketer was married on Saturday at Staplehill Church, where the wedding took place between Mr John Basto ck the eldest son of Mrs Kendrick and the late Mr Thomas Bostock of South Uxbridge Street, Burton and `Miss Mable Clarke, the second daughter of Mr & Mrs A G Clarke of Stapenhill. The bridegroom is a goalkeeper for Marston's Football Club, who have a credible record for the season. Before joining Marston's he played with Messers, Bass and Co., All Saints and Burton Town. As a cricketer he is associated with Messer's Bass and Co. with which team he scored a century last season.. He is also attached to the brewery bowling club. At the wedding today he had his brother Mr Thomas Arthur Bastock who has played Burton Town Reserves, this season as test man. His bride who was given away by her father, Mr A G Clarke, wore a dress of beige georgette and lace with hat and shoes to match. She carried shower bouquet of pink carnations and was attended by tow bridesmaids, Misses Alec and Irene Clarke - sisters of the bride. The bridesmaids were attired in blue suede georgette with black hats. Their bequests were made up of tulips. after the ceremony which was conducted by Cannon F W Meynell, vicar of Staplehill, a reception Wass held at the house of the brides parents at which between forty and fifty guests were present. Amongst the presents redid was a clock, from friends of Messrs. Saul Davis & Sons, Ltd, where the bridegroom was employed. The future home of Mr& Mrs Bastock is at Berkeley Street. |
