Notes:MMP. Formerly A/Sgt. 3 Dragoon Guards, No. 4925. On March 21st about 10.30 am it became necessary to withdraw the battle stragglers' post at Templeux to Roissel. At the time it was almost impossible to get through to Templeux by road owing to enemy shelling. Sergt. Clarke volunteered to ride through to Templeux with orders for the post to withdraw and succeeded in doing so. Just before he arrived there the NCO on duty outside the dugout was wounded and the two horses belonging to the MMP Corporals on duty at the post were killed by shell fire. This NCO has done good work throughout the battle.
