Citation: Citation for M.B.E. RSM BEER has served with this coy since its formation in May 1939 during which time he has taken part in campaigns in FRANCE 1939/40 where he assisted with the traffic control at the evacuation from DUNKIRK, WESTERN DESERT 1942/43, SICILY 1943 and FRANCE 1944. During the planning period for the invasion of FRANCE he was given the added responsibility of making the detailed arrangements for the collecting and guiding of Div HQ as well as assisting with the arrangements for 151 Bde. Landing with the Assault Tps he supervised the marking of routes for 151 Bde and Div HQ by which personnel and vehicles were guided to their locations in an orderly manner thus avoiding and chaos or disorder which might have hindered operations. Throughout the campaign he has on many occasions operated in areas which were being shelled and mortared but has always shown a complete disregard for his personal safety and completed his task. By his conduct and example, encouragement has been given to those with him. He has at all times shown enthusiasm for his tasks and a devotion to duty. On occasions in the absence of his senior officers he has made decisions and taken action as the emergency required thereby assuimng responsibility above his rank and beyond that normally demanded of him.
