Citation: | British Troops Egypt, May-Oct 1942. MBE Citation: RSM Slater is at 23 FPC IKINGI. This NCO on 26 Aug 42 moved this FPC from KHATATBA to IKINIGI whilst the Commandant was sick in hospital. He moved 148 SUS (soldiers under sentence) and all G1098 equipment without any extra personnel for guards and without the loss of any prisoners or any equimpent. Since 26 Aug 42 this WOI has run this FPC in a highly satisfactory manner without a commissioned officer. During this period full capacity of 228 SUS has been maintained without an increase of staff and without extra personnel for night guards. This FPC was recently inspected by Lt/Col Belton, Inspector of Penal Establishments who congratulated RSM Slater in my presence on running a "First Class Show". APM 16 Area, Egypt.
