Citation: Citation: Lieutenant Charles W. Walbancke, British Army, for meritorious service in connection with military operations, from November 1944 to December 1944. Lieutenant Walbancke joined the staff of the Provost Branch, Headquarters, 4th Line of Communications Sub-Area, shortly after the liberation of Brussels and distinguished himself during the difficult situations which subsequently arose, showing great personal initiative in dealing with armed demonstrators. his cool confidence and unflinching devotion to duty on more than one occasion enabled a potentially serious situation to be restored without the use of force. His work was a noteworthy contribution to the success of the Allied war effort.
