Citation: Military Medal Citation.North West EuropeSergeant Watts has served continuously with 53 Div Pro Coy during the European campaign and has proved himself an outstanding section leader. At WEEZE this sergeant successfully convoyed bridging vehicles through to the bridging site. When the main route was blocked with traffic held up by craters Sergeant Watts reconnoitred a diversion despite the risk of mines which were known to be in the area. Sergeant Watts' section was put in charge of RETHAM during the early stages. Despite shelling and bombing he organised traffic both in the town and at the bridge site, and by his untiring devotion to duty and organising ability, was an inspiration not only to his section but all ranks in the area. During the 3 months under review Sergeant Watts' section has been continuously in the line experiencing both heavy shelling, mortaring and bombing. His handling of every situation has been exellent and his responsibilities far above those of one of his rank.Awarded a periodical MM. Recommended by Major N Pascall APM 53 Div.
