21 Division. Volunteering in April 1915 he was drafted overseas in the following November. During his service on the Western Front he was engaged on special duties on various sector, and was present at the Battles of Loos, the Somme, Arras and Ypres, and in important engagements at Albert and Bapaume. In December 1917 he was sent home, and in the following May discharged, holding the 1914-15 Star, Victory and War Medals.
